What do you do in your free time?  What do you do on Saturdays?  If you can't think of anything to do but sleep or watch TV, then you should think about getting a hobby!                 

Reasons for having a hobby:

   Hobbies, not only give you something to do when nothing is on TV, but they also help you develop your talents. They provide good topics for conversation when you are on the phone with nothing to say.  They also let others know something positive about you when you can't think of anything else.  Hobbies will let you get out and explore.  Hobbies can turn an uneventful Saturday into a fulfilling day of activity.  Hobbies make you productive and keep you from being lazy.  Hobbies make your life more fun. 

Choosing a hobby:

     Write down things you like, and choose an idea from the list.   Do you want to do things outdoors or indoors?  Do you want something to do by yourself or with others?

     Do something you already do, or choose a completely new activity.  Choose something that is age appropriate. Think about what you hope to gain; quiet time or pleasure?

 Finding time for a hobby:

     How can teenagers find time to pursue a hobby? Well, first you need to take a minute to think about a hobby of yours that you have actively pursued in the last month. Then, get rid of things or narrow down some things like TV or computer and hobbies like your school's yearbook commitee, sports, band, choir, or any other activities that you do in your spare time. Activities are important because they allow you to explore new ideas and pursue interests. It's not easy fittng in hobbies, but you can by opening up time to.
